In this interactive museum display, a pike will attack a school of shiners when a visitor approaches. The “digital lake” consists of a large horizontally mounted screen and a motion sensor, complete with a little dock to stand on. Designed and installed by W3 Design Group Inc. at the Riding Mountain National Park Visitor Centre in Manitoba. Darran Edmundson of EDM was supervising the creation of the media.

It took some research regarding the accuracy of the flora and fauna. Most of all, the look and behaviour of the fishes had to be not just convincing, but factual. We used a number of animation techniques to create two videos that could each be looped as well as seamlessly played in sequence. – But all in all it was a pretty straightforward process!
